Righteousness Grants Peace!

The result of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.
~Isaiah 32:17

Today, as a Mom’s in Prayer mom read this verse, before we began praying His peace for and over our children, I felt like I had never heard or read it before. It caught my attention, so I asked her to read it again!

The result of righteousness is peace!

Really?!?!?!

Of course, I have studied Isaiah, multiple times in multiple settings over the past 8 years or so, I had to have seen this before.

Surely, this was not a new revelation?!  Or was it!?

Yes, I am aware the peace being spoken of in Isaiah was a physical removal of conflict between Israel and her enemies and it was based on the Israelites righteous acts of obedience to God.

But His Spirit brought these verses to mind, since.

“It is because of Him [God] that you are in Christ Jesus, Who has become for us wisdom from God–that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
~1 Corinthians 1:30

God made Him [Jesus] who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
~2 Corinthians 5:21

Jesus Christ IS our righteousness!!

Our righteousness apart from Him…filthy rags.

Because you and I are now righteous, because of what Jesus has done for us, not because of anything we have done or ever will do, the result of His righteousness in our lives should produce peace.

Do you and I know His peace?

Are you and I walking, living moment by moment, in His peace?

Do you and I experience His peace in the midst of the chaos and confusion of this world?

His peace is not dependent on the lack of conflict, but in spite of it. His peace is beyond our comprehension. His peace, in the midst of great turmoil, makes no sense to those looking on. In fact, it could be mistaken for lack of concern or apathy toward what is going on.

His peace! There is nothing like it!

Do you want peace?  His peace?

Put Jesus on, clothe yourself in Jesus and receive His righteousness which produces…His peace!
