Jana Lechner

Jana Lechner has a degree in Education from Indiana University teaching K-8. Her passion is lesson planning and an integrated unit style of teaching. She loves to teach geography, history and science.

She taught in England, Liberia and Japan and then returned to the US and taught 6 years in Ohio while her husband was in medical school. Chris and Jana have been married for 35 years and have 4 kids ranging from 31 down to 19; 3 boys and 1 girl. She homeschooled for 19 years.

Their first grandchild was born in 2019. As a family, they enjoy being outside, or doing anything that has to do with water and have had amazing opportunities to see His amazing world through travel.

Several factors including a deaf sister, a desire to immerse herself in ASL, and her past board experience led Jana to serve on the board with Signs for Hope. She is presently enrolled in Piedmont International University in their interpreting program. She has traveled to Vietnam three times with Signs for Hope and once to volunteer for Orphan Voice. Jana and her daughter Ashleigh organized and implemented a summer swim and art camp for Orphan Voice.

Jana knows that God wants her to continue to learn ASL. How this will fit into her future, only He knows. She has a heart for missions, counseling, the Deaf and is excited to see what God is planning.
